about

I am Vickie Hietin, illustrator and animator, better known as Levetatete .
I draw Paris as I feel it, as I imagine it, as I dream it. I invent stories when the city slows down and the facades seem to tell a different tale. Its walls, its windows, its old buildings attract me as much as its passersby.

My work is done by hand, with a deliberately naive, loose, almost instinctive style. The colors are light, close to watercolor, and allowed to bleed freely. I seek a living, imperfect drawing that retains the trace of the gesture and the moment it was made.

Animation is at the heart of my work. Each image is drawn and then animated, frame by frame, to create a story. I love seeing my drawings come to life, little by little, imagining all that lies within them. So I decided to choose a specific moment from an animation and create a printed version, so that the story can live on elsewhere, in your home.

Through my drawings, I focus on calm atmospheres, autumn evenings, snow-covered streets, and cats that appear when everything becomes quieter. I seek to suggest a feeling, an emotion, a fragment of time that can be held onto a little longer. My work is a tribute to the gentle images that cradled my childhood. These animations of yesteryear, with their soft colors and trembling lines, taught me that art could transport me. So, perhaps still a child at heart, I often walk through Paris, imagining these little scenes, dreaming of immersing myself in them. Now it's your turn to dream.
